November 2012

by Zak Lawton November 26, 2012

November has been such a hectic month for me!

Started the month with a 10 day photo-shoot trip to Taiwan with Pacific Long boarder Magazine, which has to be one of the most beautiful and comforting places I have ever been too. Everybody is so nice and welcoming, as well as genuinely interested in speaking to you and having a conversation, rather than seeing you as a tourist and wanting your money like lots of places I have been! The waves, weather, culture, and landscape are all so varied making it such a diverse place to be, and ensures you can do something no matter what the weather or surf is like, always a bonus!

From there I flew home for 3 days then out to Morocco for the second event of the European Longboard Tour in Bouznika. The surf was good on the run up to the event making it a really fun trip, however come competition day the conditions were not so good, with large 6-8ft waves mixing with a very strong onshore wind, this was far from ideal! I managed to draw lots of positives from the event although only achieving at 9 th place finish.

I am now back at home before flying to Portugal for the last Euro event of the season, and am focusing on arranging some winter plans, as the water here is starting to chill up a treat! Time to get away!

It’s funny how we are told that people are naturally resistant to change, whereas the most natural thing in the world IS change. These past few months have all been about change for me and although in my brain I know it, my heart doesn’t seem to be ready. Until now, where I have taken a break and have been … Continue reading

As ever, I’m not sure where the past while has gone – summer definitely seems to have disappeared in the blink of an eye! I started off the trail running season on a really positive note and was ready, and very excited, to get my first ultra-race of the year ticked off nice and early in April. But, … Continue reading
