Hello June! Summer Seems To Have Arrived…

by Robin Williams June 12, 2013

The days are now longer… the water is a little warmer meaning I can now leave the wetsuit hanging up at home and enjoy the freedom of paddling barefoot, wearing; boards shorts, a t-shirt and of course a pair of my trusty Breo sunnies to protect my eyes :-)

The last couple of months have been a blast, training, traveling to events and racing.

To date I’ve racked up two podium positions this season, a 1st in my local league on the South Coast and a 3rd spot in class at the Battle of the Thames in London (the biggest attended race to date in the UK – with 107 competitors!).

I’ve been lucky enough to hangout with one of the worlds best Elite Waterman, ‘Jamie Mitchell’ (JM) – take in some coaching and general sport chat.. which has fueled my appetite for more success! It was nice to here the worlds best have to train super hard and that success doesn’t come easily!

There are a few big races still on the calendar for me, Paddle Round the pier (Brighton).. Survivor race (Bournemouth), National watersports festival (Hayling Island) along with a host more local and regional races around the country.

I’ve said it before, if you haven’t already tried – give stand up paddling a go! The summer really is the best time to give it a try. The recent event on the Thames in London (Battle of the Thames) showed just how versatile the sport is (using inland water) and how much interest is growing from the number of attendees – the race numbers doubled from 2012. So who knows 2014 could show attendance as high as 200 on the start line!

If you have any SUP related questions feel free to post them on the Breo FB page and I’ll answer away for you!

Right.. the sun is shining so I’m off for a cruise along the coast :-)

Catch up soon.

Change Is The Most Natural Thing In The World

by Elaine Abonal September 12, 2016

It’s funny how we are told that people are naturally resistant to change, whereas the most natural thing in the world IS change. These past few months have all been about change for me and although in my brain I know it, my heart doesn’t seem to be ready. Until now, where I have taken a break and have been … Continue reading

I started off the trail running season on a really positive note and was ready, and very excited, to get my first ultra-race of the year ticked off nice and early in April. But, … Continue reading
