And what a great year it plans to be, filled with training, racing as well as starting my own Stand up Paddle board school.
To date my winter training has been going well and despite what seems like a continuous downpour of rain I have been lucky with some great sunny days that have allowed me to stand up paddle in shorts, a tee and rock a pair of sunnies! And who said winter was a bad time for water sports in the UK
Weather jokes aside, the most important thing is preparation before any training session – being hydrated/fueled with good food, wearing the right clothing to keep you warm or cool and a good dose of sunscreen for those long paddle sessions outside.
Talking of training my exercise plan involves plenty of time on the water paddle training, skateboarding, mountain biking, running and gym routines all with the help of my Breo sport watches to keep an eye on time and record each session.
So… with the training plan taken care of my attention is towards – spring/summer and the racing season ahead! Here’s a taste of some of the races to come, Aqua Sport frostbite, Battle of the Thames, Paddle Round the Pier maritime marathon and the National watersports festival on Hayling Island.

Wishing you all a rad 2013…
